That's right...I said 16! I can't believe it! He turned 16 on August 13th. He will try for his license next week. In California, in order for a teen to get a license, they have to have gotten their permit after taken a driving course either on line or in a classroom after the age of 15 1/2, driven for 2 hours with a certified instructor before driving with a parent, driven another 4 hours with an instructor, and driven a total of 50 hours, 10 of those being at night. After 6 full months of driving with the permit (and thus turning 16), the teen can then try for a license. Once they have their license, they are not allowed to drive any other teenager without someone over the age of 25 in the car as well for 365 days! That includes siblings. It's debatable if they can drive the siblings to school. We have been told by a law enforcement officer that it's ok, so we are going to go by that. :-)
